The Aircraft Booking System (abs) was established in 2012 by a group of software developers to help run their local flight syndicate - it promptly grew to a system that supports over 1500 active pilots with 18,000 bookings processed in the last 12 months.

In July 2022, ownership of the platform was transferred to a team based in Brisbane, Australia, who offered to take on the platform when the former owners were no longer in a position to support it.

The team runs the platform on a voluntary basis but continues to improve it when time permits, and new ideas are suggested.
